In this game, players use their Pokémon to battle with their opponent’s Pokémon. Your Pokémon has to enter the field and attack the opponent’s Pokémon. If your opponent’s Pokémon sustains enough damage it gets knocked out, and you get to draw out a Prize card. You can also win by knocking out all of the opponent’s Pokémon on the field so that the opponent has no Pokémon left. The main objective of the game is to defeat eight Club Masters and earn their Master Medals and then defeat four Grand Masters and finally defeat the Champion. Here, the Masters’ decks correspond to the types of Trading Card Game cards.
Features of Pokémon Trading Card Game are as follows:
The game allows a dual-screen which shows only one Pokémon card on each side of the field at once, displaying its name, HP, and the number of Energy cards. The number of cards in the deck and on the Bench is also displayed on the screen. The player receives two booster packs if they win the duel. One can also win a promotional card in these duels.
The Pokémon Trading Card island contains eight pokemon clubs each with their type affiliation. The various Club Masters are Gene (Rock), Rick (Poison), Ken (Fire), Amy (Water), Nikki (Grass), Murray (Psychic), Mitch (Fighting), and Isaac (Lightning).
The Pokémon Trading Card island contains four Grand Masters that are located at the Pokémon Dome. The four Grand Masters are Steve (Lightning), Courtney (Fire), Rod (Dragon), and Jack (Ice).
The game includes every card that was ever released in the real Trading Card game. It also contains special 18 game exclusive cards that weren’t produced for normal play, though some were released later on. It also pre-records the data of all the 228 cards. The cards can be obtained with the help of booster packs from the four sets which include Evolution, Mystery, Colosseum, and Laboratory. It can also be won by defeating some of the challenges in the game.
This feature is a 2 player feature that randomly generates a card for each player. The rule of the card pop is that a player cannot use this feature in the same game again until both players have used the card pop. The only way to complete their album and obtain the Phantom Cards (Mew and Venusaur) is to use card pop.
