Pokémon Green and Pokémon red are the first versions of video games in the Pokémon series. These games are the primary versions of Generation I that was developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for Game Boy (GB). The game was released in Japan earlier in the year 1996. The games were later updated to Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Yellow.

The player controls the character from an upper perspective and navigates the character throughout the region of Kanto. The main objective of this game is to master the Pokémon battle to become the champion of the Indigo League. The player has to defeat all the eight Gym Leaders and also the four Pokémon trainers in the land who are considered to be on top also known as the Elite Four. The player also has to complete the Pokédex, an encyclopedia. To complete these the player must obtain the 151 available Pokémon in the game.
The player can use their Pokémons to battle with other Pokémon. The player can use the four moves to battle with the Pokemons. The moves include using an item to stop the enemy or to switch the active Pokémon. The players can even flee away from the battlefield. Every Pokémon have hit points (HP) that when reduced to zero, the pokemon falls and can no longer battle until it gets revived. If your enemy falls, you earn experience points (EXP). These experience points help the player to level up in the game.

If the hit points of the enemy pokemon is low or if the Pokémon is affected by sleep paralysis then the success rate of catching pokemon increases. When the player catches a pokemon it is added to Pokédex and the game offers the player an option to give nicknames to the Pokémons.
